Acquisition Costs of Leasehold Improvements

Are improvements to a leased property that become the property of the lessor.  Installation of carpeting, light fixtures or walls would be considered leasehold improvements.  They may be reported in the property, plant and equipment as a tangible asset or, they may be classified as intangible assets (because they revert to the lessor's property at the end of the lease.  The costs of the leasehold improvements should be depreciated or amortized over the remaining term of the lease.
