Audit Committee

As part of a company's corporate governance, the board of directors (members or partners) may appoint some of its independent directors with financial expertise  to be on an audit committee.  The purpose is to ensure that the board would be objective in their review of the company's financial statements.  They may also be part of the team responsible for selecting an independent auditing firm.
